Pinot Noir 2005.
In vintage 2005 unusually cool wet conditions during flowering produced
very low crop levels with small berries. The grapes were hand harvested by
clonal blocks between the 28th of April and May 5 at an average 25 Brix.
The grapes were destemed and cold soaked for a week before fermentation in
small open top fermenters followed by nine months maturation in French
barriques. The wine has good intensity with aromas of black cherry and
plum. Alc/Vol 13.4 TA 6.2 g/l
Pinot Noir 2006.
A warm spring provided ideal flowering conditions and was followed by a
wonderful long hot summer. Harvest commenced with the earlier ripening
clones on the 3rd of April and with mild autumn conditions harvest was
spread out till early may with the fruit coming into the winery in
excellent condition. The wine displays a medium red/purple colour with
aromatic floral and plum characters. It has a tightly structured palate
with focused fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Alc/Vol 13.3 TA 6.4
